Family Therapy

Family after therapy at Sarasota Counseling

In my work with families, I draw upon systems theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and psychodynamic principles to help members navigate relational tension, improve communication, and foster emotional safety across generations. I view the family as a dynamic system shaped by attachment patterns, developmental transitions, and intergenerational narratives. Sessions focus on identifying entrenched roles, exploring emotional cycles, and creating space for more authentic connection. Using EFT, I help family members access and respond to underlying emotions that often drive conflict or withdrawal. Psychodynamic insight allows us to examine how early relational experiences and unconscious expectations influence current dynamics. My goal is to support families in developing more adaptive ways of relating—marked by empathy, flexibility, and mutual respect—so that each member feels seen, heard, and valued within the system.
